Science-based climate targets, aligned with the 1.5°C pathway.

Climate change is a challenge that Canyon takes seriously. We’re committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, in order to mitigate the environmental impact of our business.

That’s why we’ve set ourselves independently-verified targets that puts us on track to reach net-zero by 2050.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

At Canyon, we recognise that climate change is one of the most urgent and complex challenges facing both our industry and society. We're taking steps to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our operations and value chain. This includes direct efforts within our business and collaborative approaches with our suppliers—such as through our Climate Action Training Programme, which supports emission reduction in the supply chain.
To guide this work, we’ve committed to science-based targets that align with the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Agreement. These targets were officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2023.
Our emissions reduction targets

Our emissions reduction targets

Using 2022 as our baseline year, Canyon is working towards the following goals:
By 2032: reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 51%, and Scope 3 emissions per bicycle produced by 58.2%.
By 2050: reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90%, and Scope 3 emissions per bicycle by 97%.
These targets reflect our aim to reduce environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of our products—from raw materials and manufacturing to transport and end-of-life.
Our emissions reduction targets

“The bicycles we make support low-carbon mobility, but their production generates emissions. There’s work to do, and we’re committed to using our drive for innovation to keep moving forward.”

A structured path toward net zero

Reaching our targets requires a clear roadmap. That’s why we assess our corporate carbon footprint annually and report transparently through the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). We analyse emissions across all three scopes:
Scope 1 – direct emissions from our own operations
Scope 2 – indirect emissions from purchased energy
Scope 3 – all other indirect emissions, including those from our supply chain, logistics and product use
This comprehensive approach helps us prioritise action where it matters most and track our progress consistently.
We want to be transparent and act responsibly. Measurability and clear communication of our progress are key to achieving our goals.

Independent verification

Our near- and long-term targets have been reviewed and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)—a partnership between CDP, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and WWF. This validation confirms that our plans are in line with what climate science recommends to help limit global warming to 1.5°C.
